Kelly Lake Cree Nation (KLCN) is a progressive community committed to attaining self-sufficiency and self-governance through education and economic development. The community is governed by a traditional representation system with family Headmen and a Hereditary Chief appointed by the elders.
The Nation has strengthened our people with education and by building a business profile within the community.
KLCN creates direct employment and training in the area of environmental monitoring, security and occupational first aid, and oil and gas construction generating $3M per year in regional economic activity since 1998. This innovation was made possible through utilizing self governance to assist our people in creating aboriginal economic development in the area.
KLCN is the first self-governing nation to receive an Aboriginal Business Economic Developer of the Year Award from the All Nation Trust Company (ANTCO).
